Nearly 8 million Chinese students are enrolled in higher education in Germany every year. With the opportunity to receive free, quality education in Germany, many students from Asia make Germany their temporary home, though the transition can often be isolating and alienating. Many of these students will have the opportunity to hear the gospel there for the first time.
In the mountainous rural regions of Thailand, there is no access to education. Children must live in the city in order to attend school, but poor families cannot afford to send their children and pay tuition.
The Lahu people are an independent ethnic group that make their living largely through farming in the remote mountainous regions of Eastern Myanmar. Villages lack basic facilities such as health clinics and have limited water supplies. Villages often are required to move locations when their water supply and farming soil are depleted. Further, many villagers when seriously ill must travel long distances to the nearest town in Myanmar for treatment.
Through our Chinese student ministries in Germany, CBM provides discipleship training and leadership development through training programs, fellowship groups, Bible studies and Sunday services.
In the border town of Tachileik, the Zheng Zhu student centre provides marginalized children with quality education, health care and lodging.
Through our partnered efforts, there is a growing number of Christians in the Lahu Villages. Our current projects address the need to support new believer communities and the villages by building churches and equipping pastors to minister and improve conditions within the region.
Raised funds will support community transformation through programming such as:
- Scholarships and learning materials
- Building water supply systems
- Free medical care
- Constructing church buildings
- Fellowship groups, weekly Bible studies, Sunday services
- Leadership training programs
- Community building events
